Valley View Heights will LONG be remembered. Yes "Disaster Zone" lived up to his name. There we were waiting at the beer stop, kindly donated by the owners, and we waited and we waited. The first runners came through in well over an hour and it looked like they had just had a shower. There was a relatively shorter walkers trail but some brave souls decided that the walkers was not for them and took on the might of the runners trail. I have to point out at this stage that "Dizzy", as we affectionately call him, changed the names of the trails to "Long ass" Trail and " Short Ass " trail so at the split he put a "long line of paper" and an "S". As this was someway in to the run and the fact that it was a very hot day, that is not a complaint anyone reading this in Europe, I can understand why people got on the wrong trail. Now you understand how he got his name but yesterday he along with his long suffering wife "Peggy" announced that they are to become Grandparents so I was thinking that a change of name might be appropriate....What about "Grand Disaster" !!!
Congrats to you both and thanks for all your help. Starting without a rum shop can be dangerous but I think it all went well. The food was very good and the only problem with the beer was that it came from Trini, that is not to say we don't like Trini we do but your beer does not taste the same. I have had a chat with my contacts within GBL and I can say that from Tuesday all beer at hashes will have been brewed in Grenada.
My thanks to "cut" for setting it all up yesterday and to "Danny" our hash DJ for once again giving us great music at a great volume!!! After the sun had gone down we were got a taste of what's in store on Independence Day with a beautiful full moon. For the 38th birthday of Grenada this Tuesday we are in Tempe. The location, between the Coca Cola factories, is not the most scenic but the views we will get from the top of the mou....opps better stop there. Suffice to say if we get a clear night we will have a great moonlight hash for Independence Day. Do not forget your flashlights/torches and bring a camera. These are words from our hare "De Bling Ting" who is out now setting the trail.
A reminder now that we are only 81 days from the Inter Caribbean Hash. This event will take us to all corners of Grenada. It starts at Westerhall Rum factory with a meet and greet night and next week we will have a dummy run as Westerhall Rum are our hosts. Full details will be out on Wednesday as we do not want to cause more confusion than is necessary. Now then Graham Williams is organising things at the factory and he has hashed with us for too long now and still no hash name. If anyone has an idea let me know discreetly and we can christen him next week.
In the mean time get those legs back in working order for Tuesday. Happy Birthday Grenada ON ON
